A Glimpse into S!NG’s Performance of ‘Medieval Madness’

Set in a medieval world, this student-written production delves into love, identity, and breaking free from tradition.

Princess Abigail (Victoria Lu ‘25) and Lilith the Sorceress (Audrey Zhu ‘25) have a deep conversation about the obstacles that stand between them and their relationship.

On March 10th and 11th, 2025, S!NG brought their production of Medieval Madness to life. S!NG is an extracurricular group composed of students who share a passion for theater. For many months leading up to the show, students worked tirelessly to write, design, choreograph, and rehearse their very own musical from scratch. This year’s production explored themes of love and death through the story of Princess Abigail, daughter of King Phillip, who was forced to marry Prince Robertonio despite being secretly in love with a mysterious sorceress, Lilith. The story takes a dramatic turn when King Phillip is murdered, sparking a chaotic investigation to uncover the killer. Ultimately, it is revealed that Lilith the Sorceress was responsible for the king’s death, driven by her desire to be with Abigail. The play reaches its climax with a fiery sword fight between Lilith the Sorceress and Prince Robertonio. Featured here is a collection of photos from the performance.

Abigail Jones is an Editorial Editor for ‘The Science Survey.’ She is passionate about journalistic writing because of its ability to illuminate changes and continuities in society through careful observation. She believes that journalistic writing is key to spreading awareness about not only mainstream news and enduring issues, but also the subtle details that characterize the world we live in. Simultaneously, she sees journalism as an outlet for self-expression and sharing of understanding. Abigail is equally enthusiastic about journalistic photography, as quality photos have the potential to capture the essence of a subject, as well as contribute unique perspectives that words alone cannot convey. Beyond her work in journalism, Abigail is actively engaged in her school community. She is a dedicated member of the Bronx Science Speech and Debate team, serves as a senator in student government, and participates in a variety of extracurricular activities, including the Sci4Bronx Tutoring Organization and the Journal of Biology. Outside of school, Abigail loves reading, walking through Central Park, and traveling the world. While she is uncertain about where her future will lead, Abigail is certain that she wants to continue exercising and developing her writing skills in the years to come.

Sidney Lin, Staff Reporter

Sidney Lin is an Editor-in-Chief for ‘The Science Survey.’ Sidney cherishes the chance to edit her peers’ articles in all sections of the newspaper and contribute to the process that takes them from a great first draft to a phenomenal final product. Along the way, she looks for the opportunity to hone her own written word. Sidney believes that journalism can be a powerful avenue to empathy. The investigative process of journalism puts her into the shoes of her subjects to provide a more nuanced account of their successes and challenges while avoiding unintentional bias in reporting. Sidney’s interest in photography has also grown alongside journalistic writing. In the future, she would like to further cultivate her use of photography in order to capture stories best depicted by a single moment in time. Outside of school, Sidney can be found engaging in research, community service, traveling to new cities and exploring world cultures, and baking. In college, Sidney is interested in finding solutions to public health dilemmas through technological innovation, economics, and public policy. She is eager to take her experiences on ‘The Science Survey’ with her to the official publication of her next institution.

Bea Sireci, Staff Reporter

Bea Sireci is a Spotlight Editor for ‘The Science Survey.’ She enjoys journalistic writing because it captures unseen aspects of familiar topics. Being a journalist allows Bea to meet new people and learn about their incredible lives and accomplishments. She loves photography for its ability to be interpreted in many different ways, so that everyone can develop their own perceptions. Out of school, Bea loves spending time going on adventures outdoors, such as backpacking. She enjoys being with friends and family, and spending time alone, where she loves sewing, knitting, cooking, and playing the tenor saxophone. In ten years, Bea sees herself in one too many places. Perhaps she will be living out west in the mountains, working as a traveling journalist, or even being an astronaut. For now, she is excited to keep exploring the world through the lens of a journalist.
