The Science Survey
In an assortment similar to that of Andy Warhol, the MoMA puts together many of the drafts Kollwitz created for 'Woman with Dead Child' (line etching with drypoint). Considered one of Kollwitz’s most poignant pieces, the MoMA reinforces this idea with the sheer amount of drafts collected on one wall. The piece also had a profound impact on the artist herself; she used her son Peter and herself as models for the piece, and she felt that she foreshadowed his death later on in WWI with this piece.
